The Mamori Expedition Testbed_2010
---interactive sound installation---

In November 2009 i travelled to the Brazilian Amazon forest with a group of 6 people. It was an incredible journey through the abundant wildlife of this very unique landscape. An expedition in which my ears became my eyes. A place where at times, the 'natural' became truly bizarre.

Besides hours of sound recordings i also recorded the complete journey with a GPS device. Those two elements form the bases for this installation. The recorded GPS-tracks are adjusted to the scale of the space, in this case 1 : 3799. With the use of a special tool (a hydrophone) the visitor can make his own walk through the forest.

Shown at Netwerk Arts Centre.
